Burton

The Brand

In 1977, Jake Burton Carpenter founded Burton Snowboards out of his Vermont barn and dedicated the rest of his life to snowboarding. A pioneer of the sport, he played a defining role in shaping snowboarding into what it is today.

Since its founding, Burton has helped grow snowboarding from a backyard hobby into a world-class sport—creating groundbreaking products, supporting top riders, and pushing resorts to embrace the sport. Today, Burton designs and manufactures industry-leading products for snowboarding and the outdoors. A sustainability leader, it is the world’s first snowboard company to become a certified B Corporation®. Privately held and owned by Donna Carpenter, Burton is headquartered in Burlington, Vermont, with offices in Austria, Japan, Australia, Canada, and China.

In their words

“Ensuring our packaging is healthy for our planet and people is core to who we are. Making the switch from fossil-fuel derived bags that cause harm to ecosystems if not managed responsibly to Vela™ solutions — which are sustainably sourced, made from natural and earth digestible materials, and easy for anyone to keep circular through recycling — has been a powerful way for us to align our packaging with our commitment of protecting our home, our playground, and our source of inspiration.”
